By now you’ve probably seen the You Sucjk at Photoshop video series, right? These hilarious videos have been showing up on BoingBoing recently, and everyone thought they were some talented dude doing really funny stuff.
Well, Unfiction’s Sean C. Stacey (aka Spacebass) did a little checking around after today’s video was released, and found an undiscovered website for Phebco, the fictional company that the author of these videos works for.
A little Whois-fu by yours truly reveals that there’s an ad agency, Big Fat Brain, behind these videos after all, and not just some talented unknown in a basement somewhere. Not sure what they’re promoting yet, but it’s kind of disappointing, especially if it means that BoingBoing has basically been shilling for someone, and it’s not Phebco. ;)

Unfiction and ARGN for your iPhone!
Jonathan Waite’s been busy making an iPhone version of ARGNet. Just surf over to www.argn.com on your iPhone and it’ll auto-sense you and serve you up a version of ARGNet formatted nicely for your iPhone!
Best part is, he made up a nice Webclip icon for both ARGN and Unfiction.
Very nice!
I dunno, I’m just struck today how the term Alternate Reality Gaming (ARG) has really taken hold in mainstream use. People use it so nonchalantly now, like everyone should know what they mean. I mean, even Wil Wheaton calls ‘em ARGs now:
“I hope they’ll continue with the ARG and maybe show a few glimpses of what was happening for other people in NYC on that night,…”
Then, I just saw this on the CBS website:

This is the Jericho ARG blog, which is a pretty cool idea in and of itself. A little sidestage where the game developers can let their hair down and get folks caught up on the story, all while giving little glimpses behind the curtain. Hmm. I wonder if anyone else should do something like this….
Anyway, I think we can call it official: They’re ARGs, folks. Not ERGs. Not AREs. Not 360 Experiences. Not Immersive Reality Games. Not Beasting. Not Collective Detecting. Like it or not, ARG is in the house.
ARG. Alternate Reality Gaming. And I even know the guy who came up with the term, which is pretty cool. :)
