What do you do for recreation when it’s 110 degrees outside every day for two months? Why, you rent or buy DVDs to watch in the safety of your air-conditioned home theater, that’s what!
And if you recognize the title of this post, then you already know what little gem I found for our weekend viewing pleasure: The Pee Wee Herman Show – Live at the Roxy Theater! Paul Reubens and an ensemble cast, including Phil Hartman and Edie McClurg (the rental car lady from Planes, Trains and Automobiles), in the stage show that started it all, as far as Pee Wee Herman is concerned.
HBO captured a live performance of what started as a midnight show at the Groundlings Theatre in Hollywood. I can’t believe this is like 20 years old already, but it’s just as funny now as it was when I first saw it. The best part is, it didn’t yet have the, um, constraints it would later have put upon it as a network TV show, if you know what I mean.
Get your hands on this, you’ll laugh your face off. Seriously.
Joss Whedon’s “Firefly” will air in HD on UHD starting September 24.
This is just awesome news. First Battlestar Galactica, now Firefly! Woot!
Man, I’m such a nerd….
Remember this Xbox ad from a while back that was banned on British TV (supposedly)?
Well, a bunch of Univ. of Florida students thought they’d recreate it spontaneously in a public space. I just love this.
Three cheers for public play!
