Upcoming Stuff: BarCampLA, CalArts

Posted on 28th April 2009 in ARG, Personal, Tech/Entertainment

barcampla7_shirt_frontFor those of you in the LA area who may be interested, it looks like I’m going to be attending BarCampLA this Saturday (and possibly Sunday). This will be my first one, and I’ll have stuff with me to do a presentation on Alternate Reality Games, so we’ll see how it goes. :)

In addition, I’ve been asked to speak tomorrow at Cal Arts, which I’m really looking forward to. I’ll be talking about ARGs in general, and in more detail about the trials and tribulations of telling a story via multiple platforms. You know, The Future of Entertainment. :)

Hello, 2005

Well, surprising even to me, I’ve successfully merged all 660(!) of the old Mysdirection posts and comments to this site, so now everything goes back five years (no comments from the Tumblr years though, sorry). I can’t believe I actually pulled it off without breaking everything.

I’m really not that bad of a narcissist, it’s just that I think there were some very good discussions about ARGs etc. that should probably be preserved. Stuff like this.

Alright, time for a late lunch, maybe zombies and then birthdays…..

TV Theme Leaderboard is a go!

Posted on 24th April 2009 in Games

OK guys, I’ve actually figured out a pretty cool way to dynamically generate a leaderboard for my Twitter TV Theme Game using a cool GoogleDocs plugin for the backend. It’s pretty slick, although the formatting leaves just a little bit to be desired (I’ll work on it). All I need to do is enter the winners into the spreadsheet and voila!

In addition, if you’re curious as to the detailed box scores, I’ve kept track of the Top 3 for every game so far, which you can check out here.

I’m sure I’ll tweak this as I go along, but hey, it’s a start. :)
